Franchise leads Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will appear in the latest Hunger Games instalment, Sunrise on the Reaping.
News has broken that fan-favorite actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the latest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
A Major Return to Panem
Lawrence and Hutcherson will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. It is believed their appearance will probably be featured in a flash-forward sequence, given that the original saga concluded with their characters settled into family life.
This represents the sixth installment in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.
Delving Into the Prequel
Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a 2025 novel by author Suzanne Collins. It will be the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Returning to the director's chair is Francis Lawrence, who was behind most of the previous films in the series.
The Plot and New Cast
The film's events are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.
